TWIN WINGS
by Bonnett Dulaney
My sadness as my joy has wings,
Cool crisp, cold sadness,
Felt in brisk waves of torment.
It moves, up and away,
Down and close, close to the
Breaking, breaking point of the hope,
The indwelt hope source, that
sustains the wings of the heart,
The heart now in danger of
Becoming flightless, rages, quietly
But mighty, My soul weeps,
At the fragmentation of the spirit,
Sadness touches, nudges, pulls,
screams to the light,
And the light, joy, answers to
Its mate sadness, I hear you,
I’m bright still, splendid,
I await the completion of
Your season, the unveiling of
The reason, then I will come,
Then, I will come,
Still now,
I am here.
